With McAfee out, who tops the crypto A-list?
McAfee’s alleged ending may be the perfect close to his incredible life story: died hanging in a Spanish prison.
Now that he’s gone, I had to wonder: is there anybody else like him? Crypto seems to have such rotten celebrities. And I don’t mean “celebrities” in the sense of “crypto influencers.”
I’m referring to people you’ve heard of, as has the typical TV viewer. Why are crypto celebrities so terrible?
It’s a bit of a tautological question, because pretty much all celebrities are nauseating. Among this set though, who are the best “celebrities” to carry forward the cause. Here’s my ranking of the top, presented as a “listicle” since so many who follow celebrity news seem to like this format.
10. Ashton Kutcher
Gross. Got stuck at 9 celebrities and couldn’t find anybody to round out the list. But people like him (I guess?) so probably a good thing he’s been around crypto for so long without being too obnoxious about it.
9. 50 Cent
Minimal contribution to crypto, except to have earned ~700 BTC in album sales and then “lost” his private keys. Boating accident?
8. Richard Branson
I don’t know much about him. As an American I get that he’s a wealthy European pilot or something. So probably good?
7. Nas
He’s a terrible musician, but his contributions to crypto have been bona fide. He’d rise a couple spots if he quit his day job to focus on investing.
6. Floyd Mayweather
A boxer and ICO scammer? Sure, we need some Eth reps on the list.
5. Gwyneth Paltrow
Apparently she’s an actress. I don’t think I’ve ever watched a movie or TV show with her in it. Yet I’m somehow am aware of her existence? She must be doing something right as a celebrity therefore, and her entrance into crypto was forthright.
4. Snoop
Keep doing your thing, it’s clearly worked out well.
3. Mike Tyson
Tattooed ATMs? Ser yes ser.
2. Paris Hilton
It was quite entertaining watching Bitcoin maxis scoff when she adopted laser eyes, only to do some research and realize she’s got more crypto game than 99% of the players. Plus she may have the only good laser eyes pic.
1. Tom Brady
I don’t even watch football and recognize the absolute legend. He didn’t even need to say much about crypto, which is honestly probably all we want out of a crypto celeb.
