March 2, 2021: Curve Pool Factory v2 Launches 🏭⚙️
User-Generated pools get an on-ramp to become official.
Curve’s pool factory is so successful, they are already upgrading it to v2!
The v1 Pool Factory launched just a month and a half ago. Within that time it’s been busy. Already 25 pools have been launched by the community. This means almost as many user-generated pools have been created as official Curve pools. We sampled the activity, and these user-generated pools mostly look to be active.
The v2 Pool Factory provides a number of key upgrades. For one, v2 Pools provide an onramp to become an officially recognized Curve Pool. Any pool with $500K in 3CRV liquidity, $3MM fortnightly volume, and an audit will get its place on the 8 bits of majesty that is the Curve homepage.
Even for pools that don’t reach this volume, v2 provides a number of improvements, such as gas efficiency and time-weighted price average oracles. A migration helper contract has also been deployed to aid in the migration from v1 to v2. The Curve docs have been updated with the latest information about the v2 pools.
If you aren’t planning to deploy your own pool, you still stand to benefit from the activity. Like classic Curve pools, factory pools charge fees, half of which are distributed to liquidity providers and half to veCRV holders. Another day, another great reason for the Curve fam to celebrate:
