Weaponizing Narrative to Attract the Next Billion Crypto Users
An obvious but unfortunate truth of the world is that our society will never be run by logic or facts. Power flows from the pen of a journalist who can cherry-pick a misleading yet emotionally manipulative story, amplify it 1000x, and use this as a basis to set generally horrific policy.
We see it again as they dust off an idiotic old trope, since none of their other narratives are blunting cryptocurrencyβs rise.
Of course this storyline is a freshly steaming pile of horse dung. We know crypto is full of a truly great people.
Talk with the people who are motivated by crypto, and a few remarkable facts emerge. Crypto may have a youthful libertarian streak, but on traditionally left/right political questions the cryptocurrency community is all over the map. Iβve seen heavily left-wing and heavily right-wing people uniting over the past few months over the shared issue of being pro-cryptocurrency. What other force has so successfully unified a divided populace?
My own opinions are often a terrible barometer, but I nonetheless feel like weβre on track to see the rise of the single issue pro-cryptocurrency voter. This could become the next major realignment in politics.
Before this can happen, we need to work on our messaging game. The snark and sarcasm that keeps me glued to the crypto community doesnβt sell to a certain audience. For example, this cracked me up, but Iβm not forwarding it to my Mom:
The path to conquer the next billion people is weaponizing stories. Ergo, we must start collecting NFT artist success stories so we can wield them like an assault rifle. Consider excerpts from the Cupcat saga.
There are surely hundreds more such stories. Particularly within the NFT world, theyβre highly visual and could be neatly packaged into Hallmark channel movies.
As neither a follower of NFTs nor stories I donβt have a ready pool of such stories. So please send along anything good and Iβll update the article here as they roll in, providing a well-stocked arsenal you can carry into your Thanksgiving dinners.
