We wish it was a joke. We feel for our brethren, sistren, and non-cistren in the European Union.
Last week it looked like their parliament was on the right track, but yesterday the once-great power moved to obliterate the subcontinent’s future. It appears as if the horrible idea would not have passed a broader vote, ergo the responsibility was shunted to a smaller subcommittee.
The European concept of “privacy” is a big fat joke.
The EU’s incompetent move completely denudes the privacy-enhancing fundamental technology underpinning cryptocurrencies.
No centralized organization has demonstrated it can keep private data private. The forthcoming data leaks will benefit only criminals. This small subset of politicians must accept direct responsibility for the kidnappings and murders certain to follow.
Needless to say, the days of Europe as a “world power” is cooked.
Crypto leaders are stepping up to bring attention to the cause.
Of course, the message is even more powerful if it comes from the grassroots level, as opposed to business leaders whose companies stand to lose out. The best way to fight back is for the masses of Europeans to engage in a discussion with their technologically illiterate representatives.
