The talk will be titled “Risk Factors in Stablecoin Design,” with an overview of the risk tradeoffs that occur when architecting different types of stablecoins, including a thorough beatdown of the oft-discussed “stablecoin trilemma.”

You may have been wondering why I’ve been harping on this series of posts… To some extent, I’ve been crowdsourcing some level of QA. Publishing midwit takes so openly is a great way to get the many haters to attack any suspect facts and figures. This is important, because these data points will be a key part of our potentially controversial talk in ETH-CC next week.
We’d also encourage you to take a look at our deeper dives on each plank of the trilemma, for which we provide heavier background on each prong of the trilemma which we cannot delve into with such a short talk.

July 10, 2023: Stablecoin Capital Efficiency 🪙🧮
“Stablecoin capital efficiency” sounds way more advanced than it actually is. It’s just how many dollars does it take to mint one dollar worth of stablecoins. If you’re minting stablecoins, you naturally prefer this to be as close to $1 as possible. If you have $1MM that could be earning ~5% interest in banks, a stablecoin that is only 50% capital effi…
